Virginia State University Adopts InScribe's Digital Community Platform to Connect and Support Next Generation of Educators

Digital Community Builds on School's Mission to Prepare Competent, Caring and Culturally Responsive Education Practitioners

October 13, 2022 - Denver, CO and Petersburg, VA - InScribe, which delivers game-changing digital community solutions, today announced a partnership with Virginia State University (VSU) to provide students in its College of Education with more opportunities to connect with faculty and staff, seek help, and build relationships with peers. This virtual community will provide VSU students access to the people and tools they need. It will also demonstrate firsthand how a virtual support system can positively impact the learning experience, knowledge they can leverage as future teachers and education professionals.

VSU is ranked among the country's top HBCUs. The University has been purposeful in the development of programs that promote educational justice through positive, unbiased learning environments, preparing students who are competent, caring, and culturally responsive. VSU's interactive digital community gives students another avenue to explore and collaborate as they grow proficient in these areas, whether they are looking for resources, need academic support, or could use some motivation and encouragement along the way.

"Meaningful and successful educational experiences are not just about content. Developing well-rounded individuals who understand the importance of connection and support is critical to teaching and learning," said Dr. Willis Walter, College of Education Dean, Virginia State University. "With InScribe, our students can form deeper relationships with a network of educators who guide them academically and professionally. We were immediately impressed with InScribe's technology as information is easily searchable, help is just a click away, and collaboration is seamless."

Students can access their digital community directly through VSU’s Learning Management System (LMS), which integrates seamlessly with InScribe. Here students can find announcements, ask questions, propose ideas, get to know their peers and faculty, and gain a sense of belonging. VSU can target and personalize information within the community by topic and degree. Because InScribe captures each interaction, students have a library of questions and answers at their fingertips, and they can easily search for information and themes that have already been addressed. This also saves faculty time as they don't have to answer repeat questions over and over.

InScribe's ability to capture interactions is beneficial to the school's administration, too. InScribe's technology allows VSU to look at the kinds of questions students are asking, analyze student challenges, identify patterns, and track responses. This valuable data will also be used by VSU to support its CAEP accreditation.

"VSU's College of Education is in a unique position to provide added support for their students and to help them understand how education technology solutions can be leveraged to connect and engage with their own students one day," said Katy Kappler, CEO of InScribe. "We are excited about the opportunities this partnership provides to VSU students as they embark on their own education careers."
